Details of Event
Injured by a fall of coal on 30th April, 1900. He was attended by a doctor for some months and recovered so as to be able to walk but was lame and unable to work. Two months before death he became very ill and died on the 12th March, 1901. The cause of death was cancer of the stomach and it appeared doubtful whether this was caused by the accident but at the inquest the jury returned a verdict to the effect that he died from cancer which was the result of an accident in the pit on the 30th April, 1900.
