- Details of Event
- Apparently this accident occurred owing to a steel drill coming in contact with an unexploded portion of a gelignite charge. The drill was being need for molling out or getting up the ground shattered by six holes which had been blasted in the bottom of a sinking shaft. The non-explosion of the gelignite may be due either to an excessive charge for the work it had to do or from an unsuitable (too weak) cap having been used.
