5 February 1935: Miner Fatally Injured By Fall From Roof - By a fall of coal from the roof in the Wilson's Mine, Douglas, Lanarkshire, yesterday morning, a young miner, Walter Campbell (23), who resided with his mother at Coalburn, was severely crushed about the back and legs. He was hurriedly conveyed to Douglas Cottage Hospital, but succumbed to his injuries within three hours. [Scotsman 6 February 1935]
