The fireman lighted the fuse of a shot and carelessly threw the burning match into the open crack, exploding the gunpowder the fuse of which ignited some gunpowder which deceased had in his hand in a canvas bag whereby he was badly burned and died from his injuries on 27th Dec. 1905. The quarry was less than 20ft deep.
