- Details of Event
- Deceased was doing some work at a coal washer and had frequently had to pass over the sidings at the pit between it and the shops. He passed between 15 empty 3-ton wood-buffered wagons and 10 others of the same type separated by an interval of 4 feet. A locomotive owned by the Maryport & Carlisle Railway Co. came forward pushing 40 wagons and in obedience to signals and after whistling the driver closed up gently with the 10 wagons and they moved forward against the 15 and deceased was caught.
