15 August 1929: Fife Pit Fatality - Hope Cairns (43), miner, Preston Street, High Valleyfield, has died in the Dunfermline and West Fife Hospital from injuries received as a result of a roof fall in the Fife Coal Company's Valleyfield pit Deceased had just returned to work on recovery from the effects of an accident which he received in the pit two years ago.
