Details of Event
Roof fall. A pit accident which occurred in the early hours of Friday morning resulted in the death of a Stirling workman. Frank Cairns (43), machineman, residing at Loanhead, by Stirling, was working in No.5 Jiggers Section of No.2 Pit, Polmaise Colliery, Millhall, when he was struck by a fall of stone from the roof. Death was instantaneous. (Stirling Journal).
