Deceased was leaving the pit at the end of his shift. A hauling engine at the top of an incline draws the loaded chaldron waggons in use here up incline and it is customary to get on behind the loaded waggons a empty ones and draw them up incline a short distance when they disconnected spragged and allowed run back into the various roads at pit. Deceased got onto the set intending to ride to the bankhead on way home but getting on to the empty waggons by mistake he was crushed between them in some way after they were disconnected and commenced to run back.
