- A shot hole, 3 feet 6 inches in depth and dipping at an angle of 40 degrees into the face, at the bottom of the quarry, had been fired three times and a fourth charge of 20ozs. of blasting powder put into it, through a copper pipe, and the deceased man was in the act of stemming the charge with burnt lime when the charge exploded and fatally injured him. He was a very careful man and as far as is known did not infringe any of the special rules.
