- 5 February 1915: Cowdenbeath Miner Seriously Injured - James Burns, miner, residing at Stenhouse Street, Cowdenbeath, met with a serious accident in Mossbeath Pit, Cowdenbeath, yesterday forenoon. He had been engaged placing two empty hutches on the rails in a wheelbrae when he was struck by two loaded vehicles which had unexpectedly broken loose and jammed him against the empty hutches. He sustained a fracture of the skull. He was conveyed to Dunfermline and West Fife Hospital, where he lies in a precarious condition. [Dunfermline Journal 6 February 1915]
