- Information from the Mines Inspector's report - 1925: Roof fall at Townhead No.1 Colliery, Lanark, a miner was taking down coal at the face when suddenly he was buried and fatally injured by a fall of roof. A fault ran almost parallel to the face about 3 ft. away and the fall came from between the fault and a face break in the roof. Only bare trees were set without lids or straps. At a fault straps should have been used freely since lypes may be expected even if they are not visible.
