Whilst drawing props in waste using a pick the shaft 27ins. long, had drawn two props without any roof falling. Immediately the third prop was freed the roof crashed down, knocked him flat on his back, ruptured liver, only on his feet fallen roof. It would have been wiser to use the gablock and chain; he had not this with him, it was at the shunt 200 yards away. (Roof average ).
