- Details of Event
- He was detaching a rope from the front end of a train of tubs travelling at the rate of 7 or 8 miles an hour when nearing the shaft bottom. The first tub lost its back pair of wheels and the tubs got off the way, deceased being thrown into the tubs. When the tubs came to rest some yards further on he was found dead between the second and third. No person ought to be allowed to detach the rope from a train travelling at such a speed.
