Falls in Mine (b) Falls of Roof – He was engaged on a longwall face throwing coal when a large stone, 9 ft. long and 5 ft. wide, fell from the roof and killed him. Props were used as roof supports and 5 or 6 were displaced. The place was inspected by a fireman about two hours prior to the accident and reported safe. Straps would have provided better support.
