- 29 February 1924: Harthill Miner Falls Down Shaft - The death is reported from Salsburgh of David Anderson (21), pit bottomer, c/o Thomas Anderson (his uncle), Crossroads, Harthill, by falling down the shaft of Dewshill Colliery, where he was employed. He had been on the cage at the Ball coal seam bottom, along with a hutch of coal, when somehow he overbalanced and fell with the hutch to the sump, about 90 feet below. Death had been instantaneous.
