- Details of Event
- A coal hopper for the coke ovens being erected for the Otto Hilgenslock Coke Oven Co., was in course of construction. The deceased had assisted to pull a long plank to a height of 20 feet and was standing under it while two men above were handling it. They foolishly dragged it across other two planks which formed a temporary scaffold and caused one, 10 feet in length, to fall, and it struck the deceased on his chest and fatally injured him. This plank ought to have been properly secured in order to prevent an accident of this kind.
