- 11 July 1924: Newarthill – Miner Injured - While at work in Holytown Colliery on Friday forenoon, George Yuille, a miner residing at High Street, Newarthill, met with an accident through a fall of dirt from the roof. Mr Yuille was removed home and attended by a doctor when he was found to be suffering from injury to the back and side. It was deemed necessary to have him removed to the Royal Infirmary, where it was found that his injuries were less serious than at first supposed, the injuries consisted of severe bruises, but with no bone broken. Mr Yuille is making good progress towards recovery. [Motherwell Times 18 July 1924]
