He was engaged temporarily in clearing out rollers on the engine plane. The mode haulage was endless rope, running at a speed of 2 miles an hour. The rope ran on top of the tubs which were run in sets of three tubs each. It can only be supposed be continued clearing a roller hole out until a full set was close on him and then he slipped on to the empty road forgetting an empty set might be close to him also. Probably he was knocked down by an empty set in front of a full set. He was found under the tubs dead. There was room to stand between the full tubs and the road side.
