- 19 January 1921: COLLIERY FATALITY. A distressing colliery accident occurred at Dixon’s Pit, Blantyre, on Wednesday, whereby a young man named Alex. Young, residing at 63 Hamilton Street, Motherwell, lost his life. His head was crushed between a waggon and a beam, causing instantaneous death.
