- Details of Event
- Deceased was driving a place 5 feet wide known as a skirting) along the side of pillar of coal in the Plashetts seem, and was found dead at the face by the putter with a mass of coal on him measuring 4 feet by 4 feet by 2 feet. The coal was relieved by undercutting to the extent of 2 feet 3 inches, and there was in addition an old break in the pillar. No sprags had been set, although there were loose sprags in the place. The deputy had visited the place three times that day before the accident. The Local Inspectors in their report, after reciting the facts, concluded ‘there being no blame attached to the management.’
