Inspection made and inquest attended. His brother-in-law stepped out of the cage to a mouthing at which no coal was being wound from to examine some water pipes and a few minutes afterwards deceased attempted to follow him when he appears to have slipped his footing and fell down the shaft a distance of 40yd and was fatally injured.
