He was bringing two full tubs inbye and either the tubs or horse disturbed a bar and dislodged that covering wood above and about half a ton of shale fell from the roof. The stone fell on the tubs, a piece of the covering wood hit him on the head and although he did not appear to be seriously injured at first he died the same evening. He was riding on the shafts instead of being either behind the tubs or leading the horse as was ordered by the manager.
