24 March 1940: A formal verdict was returned on the death a young miner, 23-year old David Wright, 185 High Street, Kirkcaldy, who had his left leg torn off by a coal-cutting machine at the Frances Colliery Dysart on March 24, and died in hospital. [Evening Telegraph 10 May 1940] NAS catalogue - FAI. Please note a David Wright 1939 is listed on the Frances Colliery Memorial. We have been unable to locate a 1939 death and believe the year to be an error.
