Deceased was travelling along the main endless rope haulage road to the pit bottom at the end of his shift, when he met two men going inbye. These men were alongside of so empty journey, and deceased stepped into the full side to let them pass, when a fell journey caught him and knocked him down. He escaped with slight injuries, but never recovered, and died on 14th May from heart failure resulting from chronic kidney disease, but accelerated by the accident. The road was practically level and the speed of the haulage was under 2 miles per hour. There was a man-hole about 2 yards from the point where the accident occurred, but on the opposite side of the road.
