- 19 August 1928: Glencraig Miner Killed – A Former Falkirk Footballer – An accident occurred at Glencraig Colliery, near Lochgelly, last Sunday night, resulting in the death of Robert Woods, 34, miner, who resided at 36 South Glencraig. Deceased was engaged as a miner in the Jersey seam of No 1 pit of the colliery, and was at his usual duties on the night shift when the accident happened. He was caught by a fall of coal and death was instantaneous. Woods, who leaves a widow and four children, was up till two years ago a well known footballer. For several seasons he played for Falkirk, and he was one of the Alloa team which created a sensation in the Scottish Cup competition several seasons ago. [Dunfermline Journal 25 August 1928]
