- Details of Event
- While assisting a timberman in enlarging a horse road, and in a stooping position clearing the rails to allow an approaching journey of trams to pass, the arm for a pair of double timber set temporarily fell over, and struck him on the temple and knocked him down. It was not thought serious at the moment, but he became unconscious in less than three hours, and died from cerebral haemorrhage 12 hours later. A post-mortem showed that there was a fracture of the skull four inches in length, although no scratch, abrasion or discoloration was noticeable externally.
