20 August 1917: Fatal Pit Accident At Newcraighall – Fatal Injuries were sustained by Robert Wood (54), a miner, residing at 27 Second Avenue, Newcraighall, who was crushed by a hutch in the underground workings of the Klondyke Pit, Newcraighall, of the Niddrie and Benhar Coal Company.
