Details of Event
The accident occurred on an endless rope haulage road in the Yard seam. Two sets of full tubs were being taken outbye up a gradient, when the clip of the leading set of five tubs became detached from the rope, and the set ran back 6 yards against the next set of six tubs which also became detached. The 11 tubs ran amain and collided with a line of tubs standing on the flat at the bottom of the dip. The deceased had heard the tubs running wild, but thought they were empties, and therefore he was taking refuge between full tubs which were closed together by the collision, and he was jammed between them and sustained injuries, from which he died on March 20th.
