- Details of Event
- Deceased and the doggy were drawing some 11 feet props to let down the top coal. They had drawn three and deceased was clearing away some dirt from the foot of a fourth to relieve it, in order that they might knock it out with a bunter, when the coal above fell knocking out this prop and another. Deceased’s skull, thigh and three ribs were fractured, and his back severely injured. He succumbed 15 hours afterwards. The post which the men were trying to draw could probably have been safely got out by a pulling jack and chain.
