Fall of roof at the face from glassy slips. According to the evidence at the inquest (as the roof was changing from rock to clod) he was ordered, as he passed the examiner going to work, to set timber, the examiner having marked with chalk on the floor where he should do so. He neglected to set these timbers and was engaged holing when the fall occurred and killed him on the spot. It is clearly a case of culpable neglect on his own part according to the evidence and supported by the appearance of the place afterwards.
