He was employed in repairing an airway in which a fall had occurred, and apparently had crept over the fall after he had done some work at the place, and in doing so probably disturbed some props, with the result that a further fall occurred and smothered him. The roof in the "Red Ash" seam in this place is exceptionally bad and it took about eight hours to get him out.
