Details of Event
A cage working in a shaft is used for raising and lowering the quarryman. The deceased was descending with another man, when he suddenly shouted "stop the cage." The cage was stopped and it was seen that the deceased's fingers were trapped by a cage. By order of the deceased and his companion cage was then raised, and when a few feet from the surface the deceased's head was jammed against a beam. He was fatally injured.
