A length of 33 feet of air pipes, weighing 650lbs. broke away from the air range and fell a distance of 24 feet, killing deceased. The pipes failed at one of the maker's joints by the shearing of 14 rivets, each 3/16 diameter. The pipes were purchased in November, 1913, and first used on the 16th December. There was no evidence of rough usage and the failure can only be put down to faulty material in the rivets.
