- 23 June 1915: PIT FATALITY NEAR FALKIRK - Falkirk police reported a pit fatality at Callendar Brickworks, Glen village, near Falkirk, which occurred on Wednesday. While men were at work there was a heavy fall from the roof, and two workers were entombed, namely, James Fleming and Walter Wilson. The cries of the men attracted other workers, and when the miners were extricated from the debris Fleming was found to be dead. He was a young man, and resided with his parents at Mary Street, Laurieston, near Falkirk. Wilson was removed to Falkirk Infirmary, where he was found to be suffering from dislocation of the thigh and internal injuries. [Dundee Courier 25 June 1915]
