7 November 1929: Miner Killed at New Cumnock - While Robert Wilson, a married man and residing at Stepheads Road, Connel Park, was engaged at his work as a miner in Knockshinnock Mine, belonging to the New Cumnock Collieries (Ltd.), he was struck by a large stone which fell from the roof and killed him instantaneously.
