- Details of Event
- On withdrawing the sprags from a longwall face which had been holed to a depth of 3 feet, the coal failed to fall. Deceased went in front of the unspragged coal and began with a wedge to split the coal above the holing, when all the holed coal burst off, together with a long length of clod roof, part of which fell upon him. Three props were pushed out by the fall. Deceased ought to have worked at the buttock end, and followed close up with timber.
