- Died 5th March, 1906. On 9th November, 1904, while deceased was walking outbye on the engine plane his head came in contact with the roof and he never worked again. Three days previous to this he had complained of straining himself while lifting a stone. He was paid compensation for some time both from the Colliery Owners and the Permanent Relief Fund, hut after a time his medical attendant came to the conclusion that deceased was suffering from kidney disease and that his condition was not due to any accident and refused to give certificates entitling him to compensation any longer. When he died an inquest was held, after a post mortem examination, and medical evidence given to the effect that death was due to kidney disease not the result of any accident, and so the jury found.
