Deceased was pulling coal off a longwall face in a seam 7 feet 6 inches thick, when about 2 cwts. of coal came away, struck the lever with which he was working and drove the handle of it against the pit of his stomach, his injuries were not at first considered to be serious, but he died two days afterwards apparently from internal inflammation.
