      - Details of Event

      - Deceased was coming away at loose it, from the part of the face in the Cockshead where he had been holing. As he passed along near the coal a large piece 8ft. 6ins. long, 2ft. thick and 3ft. 3ins. wide fell from the face and struck his leg, causing a fracture, as a result of which he died two days later. The lump had been undercut and unsuccessful efforts had been made to get it down. The workman so engaged had left it unsupported by timber, in contravention of Special Rule 80. He was subsequently prosecuted for the offence and committed to prison for one month.
