- The deceased was engaged in repairing the main level and while he was fixing a setting of timber a bump occurred accompanied by a heavy fall of roof and the debris from the Thick Coal gob immediately above, 6 yards long, 2 to 5 yards wide and about 7 yards high which reeled out five settings of timber amongst which deceased was imprisoned for 16 hours. When released he was apparently uninjured, but he was suffering severely from shock, from the effects of which he died on the following day.
