- Details of Event
- He and others were preparing to secure some weak ground on the side of a stope adjoining a soft cross-course on the outer side of which there were old workings extending to the surface. A stream of water and slime was issuing from the side. He was standing on a stull near to the bad ground waiting for his comrades to bring some timber. The weak side suddenly collapsed and was immediately followed by an inrush of water and slime which forced him from the stull into the gunniss. He fell 40 feet. About 5 feet below the stull on which he was standing there were several unplanked stull pieces, and if the precaution had been taken to cover these, he in all probability would have escaped.
