Whilst the deceased was engaged filling a tub of coal near the face in the Five Yard seam, he was requested by the collier to stand back to allow him to pull down a portion of loose coal off the face. It appears the coal in falling knocked out a 7-foot prop which struck the deceased in the abdomen causing a slight injury, from the effects of which he died on 5th June.
