Deceased who was on his way out at the end of the shift, arrived at a double parting on the main drift just as an empty journey was entering. Instead of waiting for the full journey to start up the drift ahead of him, he proceeded on his way. He was overtaken and run over by the full journey 230 yards above the parting. The road was low and narrow, but there were sufficient manholes. He probably lost light.
