- Details of Event
- Deceased and others were cleaning out an old road in the Thick Coal, filling the fallen coal, and taking out the overhanging side coal. He examined a portion of the side coal, and concluding that it was hard drilled the shot hole in it. He was waiting until the loaders would finish the filling of a tub that he might charge and fire the shot when fully two tons of coal suddenly fell presumably from an unseen break and killed him instantly.. The doggie had examined it an hour previously and failed to see any break. There was no timber under the overhanging side.
