When travelling down a roadway seven feet wide by five feet high, with a full tub, a fall of roof displaced a bar and buried him. The Fireman had inspected the road a quarter of an hour before the accident and considered it safe. The roof was damp and three bars appear to have been set in a distance of about eight feet. The middle bar was the one displaced by the fall.
