- Fall of side at face while holing tender coal and overlying shale, measuring 6ft. by 20ins. by 12ins., fell on him from above a line of sprags, two of which were set against the coal face below the portion which came down. Inclination of seam 1 in. 6 ins. A fractured dislocation of the spine resulting from the accident caused his death on the 4th August, 1908. No.2 Rhondda Seam. Coal 3ft. 9ins. in thickness. Naked l ights used.
