Deceased was riding in the last tram of a journey of 10 empty trams which was being drawn in by a tail rope. In going over some pointer just outside a curve the front tram got off the rails and ran into the side. The strain thus put on the rope caused the sheave at the curve to break loose, and the rope drawing straight struck deceased on the head and killed him.
