Details of Event
Deceased was getting coal in a longwall working place, where the loose end had been neglected and allowed to hang back about 4 yards in the goaf. The roof weight had crushed the coal, and about 15 cwt. came away, knocking him against a prop and rupturing his spleen. He died on the following day.
