- Details of Event
- It was his duty to attach sets of tubs to the endless rope by means of a grip. The rope runs under the tubs at a speed of about three miles an hour. The grip is attached at the front end of the set, and needs some considerable force to tighten. The lad was found under the third tub which was off the way. No one saw the accident, and it is thought he had fallen down in front of the set of tubs when tightening the grip. Buried in Duncombe Cemetery Ferryhill.
