Deceased was engaged in taking down top coal in the Deep Seam when a piece of roof coal fell from between a small fault and a slip. The under surface of the coal was covered by a scaling of dirt locally called waterpill, which hid the slip. Deceased sustained a fractured rib, which penetrated the lung. He was taken home, and subsequently to the Hospital, where he died of pneumonia on February 1st.
